Development of a Rotor Coil Temperature Sensor

En’Urga Inc. conducted a feasibility study of a Rotor Coil Temperature Sensor for Caterpillar Inc.  The sensor was based on utilizing multi-wavelength infrared measurements to estimate the temperature of the rotor coil while the generator was in operation.  The feasibility of the technique was conclusively demonstrated, with the temperature being estimated without foreknowledge of the emissivity of the coils.  The prototype design for the sensor was also completed as part of the study.
